Two-time NBA Champion Kevin Durant is a fan of Travis Scott, especially his upcoming album UTOPIA. Durant says the new album is much the same, boundary-pushing and innovative. The iconic basketball player also emphasized Scott’s presence in the hip-hop scene as a whole. Known for his creative use of autotune and hollow, atmospheric production, Travis Scott has changed the face of mainstream hip-hop forever.

While not as big of a success as his follow-up record ASTROWORLD, his first album Rodeo is widely considered one of the greatest hip-hop albums of the 21st century and was the breakout project for the Texan rapper. His upcoming UTOPIA album is set to be a visual project, coming alongside an accompanying film, and Kevin Durant says it is incredible. The Suns player thinks it's one of Scott’s best works.

During an interview with RapCaviar, Durant spoke about the album before being asked if he had heard it.  He responds yes, and says that Travis is once again trying something new musically and that the rap community has been waiting for this album for a while. “His spirit and his presence are all over the game,” said Durant.

UTOPIA faces multiple delays

The album has been a long time coming, teased to the public since 2021. The release date has been revealed and postponed many times, and fans are sceptical about when it might see the light of day. Scott teased the album first in 2020 through a post to his Instagram that read “utopia”.

Since the album has been a constant mystery to fans, the actuality of it remains ambiguous. It appears that the release is finally close with a single from the album ‘KPOP’ released. The song has artists like Latin music star Bad Bunny and The Weeknd. The album’s promotion faced a severe setback due to the 2021 ASTROWORLD concert tragedy, where a crowd crush caused ten deaths and several injuries. More recently, the launch party in Egypt was cancelled due to a construction project in the desert.
