After eight years of wait, the ICC Champions Trophy is finally back in 2025 and the top eight teams will lock horns in the 15-match tournament to lift the title on March 9. The tournament has finally started where the defending champions and host nations Pakistan are taking on New Zealand in the opening match of the season at National Bank Stadium in Karachi. With this, an ICC event has also returned to Pakistan after 29 years.
The last ICC tournament Pakistan hosted was the 1996 Cricket World Cup, jointly with India and Sri Lanka. Now, they got a chance to host another ICC event after almost three decades with the ongoing Champions Trophy. However, India are scheduled to play their matches in UAE, due to political tensions between the two countries.
