Things have been tough for team India as they have lost two games in a row in the Super 4 stage of Asia Cup 2022 and stare at the exit doors. After losing to Pakistan in a last-over thriller, India now lost to Sri Lanka in almost a similar fashion. In both matches, India could not defend the totals posted by them as bowlers leaked runs.

After getting an invitation to batting first, India posted 173/8 in their 20 overs. Captain Rohit Sharma starred with his knock of 72 off 41 balls. Suryakumar Yadav also chipped in with a handy 34 off 29 balls. However, this proved insufficient as Sri Lanka chased down the target with a ball to spare. It all started with a 97-run opening partnership between Pathum Nissanka and Kusal Mendis.

Both the batters looked in fabulous touch as they dispatched every Indian bowler in the first six overs. Both Nissanka (52 off 27) and Mendis (57 off 37) perished in quick succession. Charith Asalanka and Danushka Gunathilaka also fell cheaply but Dasun Shanaka and Bhanuka Rajapakasa were up to the task. They stitched a 64-run partnership to win the game for Sri Lanka.

As India are almost out of the Asia Cup 2022, Twitter users shared their emotions. While a few criticized Rohit Sharma’s captaincy, some shared memes to express their feelings.
