
Lucknow Super Giants came victorious in a high-scoring encounter against Kolkata Knight Riders in match number 21 of IPL 2025 at Eden Gardens. Batting first, fifties from Mitchell Marsh and Nicholas Pooran guided LSG to their second highest total in the IPL, 238 runs for the loss of three wickets. In reply, KKR fell short of just four runs as they were restricted at 234 runs losing seven wickets.
Batting first LSG got to a flying start as Aiden Markram and Mitchell Marsh put up an opening partnership of 99 runs in 10.2 overs. Markram got out after scoring 47 runs off 28 balls, hitting four fours and two sixes while Marsh went on to smash his fourth fifty of the season as he got out after scoring 81 runs off 48 balls, hitting six fours and five sixes. After that, Nicholas Pooran took charge of the innings and scored an unbeaten on 87*(36) runs with seven fours and eight sixes as LSG went past 230 runs. For KKR, Harshit Rana took two wickets while Andre Russell put one in his bag.
Rinku Singh’s late heroics goes vain as LSG register thrilling win vs KKR
Chasing the winning target, Sunil Narine and skipper Ajinkya Rahane took charge for KKR. Narine got out after scoring a quickfire 30(13) runs. Meanwhile, Rahane played a captain’s knock of 61 runs from 35 balls, smashing eight fours and two sixes. Venkatesh Iyer also contributed with 45(29) runs, hitting six fours and a six. However, KKR went on to lose back to back wickets in the middle overs and were reduced to 185/7 in 16.1 overs.
After that, Rinku Singh gave a tough fight with his quickfire knock but couldn’t take his team down the line. The left-hander remained unbeaten on 38*(15) runs, hitting six fours and two sixes. For LSG, Akash Deep and Shardul Thakur scalped two wickets each while Avesh Khan, Ravi Bishnoi and Digvesh Singh scalped a wicket each.
