Synonymous with batting records across all formats, former Indian skipper Virat Kohli is regarded amongst the best in the current crop of batters. Kohli has owned the game for several years and took everyone by surprise with his sheer consistency by scoring big runs against the best bowlers of the generations. However, Kohli's bat has been quiet for longer than expected, and even the Bangalore batter has confessed that he is doing everything possible to add runs under his name.
Although Kohli scored crucial runs in a couple of matches during the recently concluded Indian Premier League, he had a forgettable IPL 2022 stint, as he could not perform up to his reputation. Kohli could only manage to score 341 runs in 16 games at an average of 22.73. In the latest development, former Indian cricketer RP Singh has stated that Kohli must start from rotating strikes and aim to score 60/70 runs off 50 or 55 deliveries.
"When a batter is not in good form, he should not look for 100 off 50 deliveries Instead, he must focus on rotating strikes and spending time in the middle," RP Singh told India TV. The pacer also believes that Kohli is getting out in strange manners, and the batter has taken too much time to get back his form.
We have never seen him this way. He has dominated the game for years. Every cricketer goes through such a period, but in the case of Kohli, he has taken a long to hit a bad form," Singh added.
He also suggested that it would take equal time for Kohli to come out of bad form, but showed confidence in Bangalore batter by stating he scored some big scores towards the end of IPL 2022, which will give him much-needed confidence when he will tour England.
Notably, Kohli's 73 off 65 balls against Gujarat Titans was his best performance in the IPL 2022, resulting in a must-win game. Meanwhile, Kohli also completed 7,000 runs for the Bangalore franchise in the game's shortest format.
Notably, Kohli and a few others have been rested after IPL and will not be seen in the forthcoming South Africa home series.
