Preview

The second edition of the Legends League Cricket kicks off on 17 September with a match between India Capitals and Gujarat Giants. But before that, a charity match will be played between India Maharajas and World Giants on Friday (16 September). The two teams will lock horns at the beautiful Eden Gardens in what will be a showpiece event to celebrate India’s 75 years of Independence. It will be interesting to see who emerges victorious. Will it be Virender Sehwag’s India Maharajas or will it be Jacques Kallis’ World Giants to win this match?

Pitch Report

The Eden Gardens is probably one of the best pitches available in India. It is known to offer something to everyone. While pacers get a decent amount of pace and bounce, spinners get to do their magic in the middle overs. The fast outfield and shorter boundaries help the batters. So, a cracker of a game is expected when the two teams meet here on Friday.

Team Analysis

India Maharajas

Virender Sehwag-led India Maharajas will have the opportunity to shine in a game that is being played to celebrate India’s 75 years of Independence. Also, they will be looking to avenge their defeats against the World Giants in the previous edition of the Legends League Cricket. India Maharajas will have two really good openers in Virender Sehwag and Naman Ojha. Mohammad Kaif and S Badrinath will be there to strengthen the middle order. Meanwhile, the Pathan brothers will take care of the finishing. In bowling, India will have Kerala Express (S Sreesanth) run through the opposition’s batting lineup. The spin duo of Pragyan Ojha and Harbhajan Singh will also come in handy.

The never giving up Shane Watson will also be there to provide another dimension to the game. Two of the greats of their time, Jonty Rhodes and Daniel Vettori are also a part of the squad and can be included in the playing XI.
