In the match 42nd of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, which was a high-scoring thriller, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) registered a 11-run victory against Rajasthan Royals (RR), which was their first at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. The top performers in the win for RCB were Virat Kohli and Devdutt Padikkal, who scored fifties while putting up a 205-run score on the board before Josh Hazlewood picked wickets at key intervals, four in total, to earn himself the player of the match (POTM) award.

In their batting effort, on a pitch which was tough for batting initially, RCB’s Virat Kohli managed to find his touch before dominating the RR bowlers in his innings of 70 runs in 42 balls with eight fours and two maximums. Devdutt Padikkal got the better of the conditions while batting, making the most of it by reaching his fifty in just 26 balls before losing his wicket immediately afterwards.

While defending their 205-run total, RCB found themselves in early trouble when Josh Hazlewood was carted around for six boundaries in just 10 balls by RR’s opener Yashasvi Jaiswal before he picked up his wicket for 49 runs in just 19 balls. The second spell of the Australian pacer saw him take key wickets of Shimron Hetmyer and Dhruv Jurel, to help set-up the win for RCB.
