After 17-day ordeal inside the Silkyara tunnel in Uttarakhand, 41 miners were finally rescued with the help of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF). After several other specialised groups were called in for the rescue mission. Despite several failed attempts, the NDRF on Tuesday, 28 November finally successfully  rescued the miners.

Seeing this achievement, several former cricketers and franchises of the Indian Premier League (IPL) took to social media to speak of the grit and patience of the miners. “A big shoutout to everyone involved in successfully and safely rescuing all trapped workers in the Silkyara tunnel. Commendable work of patience, grit and perseverance. Happy for the families to be reunited with their loved ones. Wishing speedy recovery and rehabilitation of the rescued workers. #UttarakhandTunnelRescue,” Anil Kumble tweeted.

Former India cricketer Suresh Raina also took to X as he extended gratitude to NDRF, SDRF and the Indian Army. “Deeply relieved to hear all 41 workers have been safely rescued in #UttarakhandTunnelRescue. Huge gratitude & respect to NDRF, SDRF, Army and everyone involved in this remarkable mission. Jai Hind,” said Raina.

VVS Laxman, Wasim Jaffer, Mayank Agarwal, IPL five-time champions Mumbai Indians (MI), Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and others also reacted to the tunnel rescue.
