Inter Miami, the current club of one of the greats of the game, Lionel Messi, is planning to extend the 37-year-old's stay for another year. With the Argentine reaching his penultimate career, Inter Miami is all set to offer a new contract, but with additional clauses after he gave them so much popularity since his signing in 2023.
Eyeing to renew his contract for a year, reports citing Marca reveal that as per the new contract, Messi might be playing in Europe. According to a report, Messi might return to Europe in his potential contract extension, adding that there will be a clause allowing him to play in Europe at the end of 2025 and the start of 2026. With the 37-year-old happy to extend his stay in the Argentine team, he is also eyeing to defend the World Cup crown in 2026, allowing him a reunion with his former club Barcelona.
Messi to join Inter Miami in pre-seasn tour
Ahead of the busy calendar with Inter Miami, Argentine superstar is set on a yet another pre-season tour. Inter Miami will depart on a five-match trip that gets underway later this month, spanning over four countries. The reigning Supports’ Shield winners on Friday announced the five-match trip, which will see them play three matches in South America and Central America.
Inter Miami will open with a game against Peruvian champion Club Universitario de Deportes in Lima on January 29. “We’re very excited to unveil the five matches against domestic and international opponents across the Americas that will prepare us for a highly anticipated 2025," Inter Miami President of Football Operations Raul Sanllehi said. “These fixtures will put us in the best possible position ahead of an unparalleled campaign with various competitions we’re playing for this year — the FIFA Club World Cup, CONCACAF Champions Cup, Leagues Cup and MLS," he further added.
