After losing against Manchester United 2-1 in their third game of the Premier League 2022-23 season on Monday, Liverpool has made a sensational comeback in the league with a record victory over Bournemouth at the Anfield on Saturday.

Liverpool scored nine goals against Bournemouth as Luis Diaz and Roberto Firmino scored a brace each. Since Manchester United's 9-0 victory over Ipswich in 1995, this is the third time when a club managed to record the biggest victory in the Premier League. Earlier, Leicester City and Manchester United had defeated Southampton 9-0 in 2019 and 2021 respectively.

The Reds started the game on a high note as Luis Diaz (3') and Harvey Elliott (6') found the back of the net in the starting 10 minutes. Trent Alexander Arnold's 28th minute and Roberto Firmino's 31st minute goal took Liverpool's lead to 4-0. Before the half-time whistle, Chris Mepham scored an own goal in the 45th minute and after a minute, Virgil van Dijk's towering header rewarded Liverpool their sixth goal.

After completion of an hour into the game, Roberto Firmino (62') scored his second goal of the match while Fabio Carvalho scored the eighth goal for the home side in the 80th minute. Luis Diaz went on to score his second and record ninth goal for Liverpool in the 85th minute.

Meanwhile, Manchester United continued their winning streak against Southampton as Bruno Fernandes' only goal helped the Red Devils conquer their opponents at the  St. Mary's Stadium while Manchester City pulled off a sensational comeback as Erling Haaland scored a hattrick to help his side beat Crystal Palace 4-2 in a home game.
