In a big update ahead of the Formula 1 Azerbaijan Sprint, Williams Racing have been jolted with a massive blow. Logan Sargeant, one of the Williams Racing has withdrawn from the upcoming Sprint race. His decision comes due to the damage sustained to his car from the Sprint Shootout on Friday (April 28).

 

While Sargeant finished 15 th  in the Sprint Shootout, his teammate Alex Albon finished 13 th .  The 22-year-old crashed out of the SQ1 as he hit the barriers out of Turn 15. The FIA also released a statement, stating, “The Stewards have received a request from Williams Racing to withdraw Car 2 from the Sprint following the Sprint Shootout incident.”

 

Williams Racing also shared a post on the update. “Logan’s car will not run in the #F1Sprint this afternoon despite the best efforts of the team. After receiving the FW45 back following the shootout, we worked flat-out on the car but there is not enough time to complete the repair.”

 

Esteban Ocon to start Sprint from pit

 

In another update, Alpine driver Esteban Ocon will start Saturday’s Sprint and the Sunday’s final race from pit. This comes after the team made changes to his car with parc ferme conditions active.
