Gujarat Titans put on a show at the Narendra Modi Stadium after being invited to bat first by Krunal Pandya-led Lucknow Super Giants in match number 51 of the Indian Premier League 2023. While wicketkeeper-batter Wriddhiman Saha scored the fastest fifty for GT in balls played, his opening partner Shubman Gill just missed a century by six runs.

As Saha reached fifty off 20 deliveries, cricketers and several others flooded Twitter heaping praise of the cricketer. While Virat Kohli took to his Instagram to share a story hailing him “What a player”, former South Africa and RCB skipper AB de Villiers also heaped praise of the batter. “It looks pretty nice to be an opening batsman at the IPL”, ABD wrote on Twitter.

Fans also went gaga over Wriddhiman Saha's knock. While some said that he has already replaced injured KL Rahul in the squad, a few others claimed that he showed no mercy on LSG bowlers as he thrashed them all over the park.

It is to be noted that prior to Wriddhiman Saha, Vijay Shankar held the record of fastest fifty for GT. Shankar achieved this feat in 2023 in match against KKR in Ahmedabad. He reached the 50-run mark off 21 deliveries.
