The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 has reached an interesting stage with three teams confirming their place in the playoffs on Sunday, May 18. However, with a spot still up for grabs amongst the three teams, in match number 61 of the IPL 2025, the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) will take on Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow.

While the Hyderabad-based franchise will play for pride, the Rishabh Pant-led LSG will be vying to get a win to keep their playoffs hopes alive. Speaking of the match, former Australia cricketer and veteran coach, Tom Moody opened up LSG’s strategies. He opined that the team should step up as a collective unit in their remaining games.

LSG need to bring both their elements together: Tom Moody

Speaking to ESPNcricinfo, Moody highlighted how LSG have relied on individual moments and has failed to operate as a cohesive unit. "At the end of the day, LSG need to perform collectively. They started the season well, with Nicholas Pooran leading the way with the bat. But since his form has dipped, players like Rishabh Pant haven’t had a strong season, and David Miller has also misfired in that finishing role," Moody said.

The former cricketer further stated, "That has put a huge amount of pressure on their bowling unit. What they need now is for their bowlers to perform at their very best. The batting must improve significantly. If they can bring both those elements together, then yes, they can compete strongly against Sunrisers."

Speaking for LSG’s chances of making the playoffs, they would require to win all their remaining matches by a comprehensive margins. With a win in all of them, they can reach 16 points and MI and DC can still finish below them, but the game will rely on the net run rate.
