While the Indian cricket team is in England, playing in the five-match Test series for the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy, one of the key bowlers in the Indian setup, Yuzvendra Chahal is enjoying his time off the field after he was snubbed a place from the Test squad. While he continues to be on the sideline for a considerable time now, the Indian spinner recently broken silence on his divorce with ex-wife Dhanashree Verma.
It is to be noted that the couple tied a knot in 2020, but things turned around in their marriage in 2024 after the renowned choreographer removed all images with the Indian cricketer from her social media handles. Things aggravated after Dhanashree also labelled Yuzvendra Chahal for ‘cheating’ in the relationship. However, the couple finally were divorced earlier this year.
I have never cheated: Yuzvendra Chahal recalls moment of being labelled as “cheater” after divorce with Dhanashree
But recently, the 35-year-old during his candid interaction on Raj Shamani’s podcast, opened up on his relationship with Dhanashree. When asked about the sudden changes, followed by a heartbreaking news of divorce taking the internet by storm, Chahal final broke silence on this all. When asked how it affected him personally, Chahal recalled the moment when he was labelled as a “cheater”.
Speaking with Raj Shamani, Chahal began, "When I was going through the divorce thing, people labelled me as a cheater. I have never cheated. You will get a more loyal person than me.” The 35-year-old further added, “For my loved ones, I think from my heart. I have never asked, just given. When you don't know, you are writing. I have two sisters, I know how to respect girls. Just because you are seen with someone, you will link up with someone and write for views. The problem is if you react once, they will be more people who will come knowing you will react.”
The Indian cricketer went onto reveal that the divorce was going on for long and they just decided to not show it around to the people. "It was going on for a long while. We decided we do not want to show the people. Who knew if it did not happen. Maybe, it will become a different scenario. We were like until we reached to a point of end, we are not going to say anything. We will be like a normal couple on social media," Chahal added.
