English forward Mason Greenwood is set to join French club Olympique Marseille in a permanent transf er from Premier League club Manchester United. The Ligue 1 side is set to pay a fee of €30m for the 22-year-old.  Greenwood played in Spain's La Liga on loan where he made 36 appearances for Getafe last season and registered 10 goals. 

The 22-year-old saw his career take a turbulent turn over the last two years. In January 2022, the youngster was arrested on charges of attempted rape and sexual assault. The case was discontinued after the Crown Prosecution Service saw key witnesses withdraw their co-operation.  Despite the settlement of the case, Man United decided to keep Mason Greenwood away from the squad.

Then ahead of the 2023-24 season, Greenwood joined  Getafe on loan and now will be moving to Ligue 1. The development reported by Fabrizio Romano said, " Mason Greenwood to Olympique Marseille, here we go! Deal in place between all parties. OM have booked private flight for Mason to land in Marseille, undergo medical tests and sign.  Deal valid until June 2029.  Man United to receive €30m package plus 50% sell-on clause."

When asked about Greenwood's future at Manchester, United manager Erik ten Hag revealed the final decision would be taken by the club management. “I can’t say so much about it. But what I say is I shared my opinion about it so let’s see what’s going to happen and what the decision will be,” the Dutch manager said.
