Manchester United had a tough 2024-25 season across all competitions, especially in the Premier League in which they finished in 15th place, just three spots ahead of the relegation zone. One of the biggest problems for Manchester United last campaign was the lack of goals, and Danish striker Rasmus Hojlund, 22, had a big slump in form in comparison to the season prior, scoring only 10 goals in 52 appearances across all competitions.

In the ongoing pre-season for the 2025-26 campaign, Rasmus Hojlund has started quite well, scoring a goal against Bournemouth in Chicago on Wednesday, July 30, in the Premier League Summer Series clash. But now, just a few days later, a report in BBC Sport mentioned that Manchester United are prepared to sell Rasmus Hojlund at a big loss for £30 million amid rumoured links of Slovenian and RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko, 22, with them.

Manchester United could incur £13 million in losses upon selling Rasmus Hojlund this summer

It is understood that if Rasmus Hojlund leaves the Red Devils for the aforementioned sum of money, then they will incur £13 million in losses since his book value currently is £43 million. Although a potential transfer of the Danish striker is dependent on whether Manchester United are able to sign Benjamin Sesko this summer, who is also being targeted by Newcastle United.

In his recent interview after scoring a brace against Bournemouth, Rasmus Hojlund was asked about his future by journalists, and to them, he stated his intention about wanting to stay at Manchester United. The Red Devils could push to complete the move for Benjamin Sesko without outgoings at the club, but they will have to pull off the latter, to stay compliant with the Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR) in the Premier League.
