Manchester United is reportedly revisiting their interest in Serbian goalkeeper Vanja Milinkovic-Savic, nearly a decade after his initial signing with the club in 2014. The 28-year-old, currently playing for Torino in Italy’s Serie A, has emerged as a transfer target for United as the club looks to strengthen its goalkeeping department ahead of the new season. Vanja, who never made a senior appearance for the Red Devils due to work permit issues, left the club in 2015 but has since developed into a reliable shot-stopper with over 130 appearances for Torino.

Vanja’s performances in Serie A have caught the attention of several top European clubs, but Manchester United’s renewed interest carries a sense of unfinished business. Standing at 6’8”, he brings a commanding presence between the posts, and his consistent displays in Italy make him a compelling option to challenge or potentially replace current first-choice Andre Onana. With Ruben Amorim looking to build a squad capable of competing on multiple fronts, bolstering the depth and quality in goal, is a clear priority especially following a season marked by inconsistency and injuries in the defensive line.

United to face competition from other Serie A and Premier League clubs

Torino are reportedly open to selling Milinkovic-Savic, but only for the right price, which is believed to be around 30 million euros. While Manchester United have made initial exploratory contact, they are not alone in the race. Napoli, seeking a successor to Alex Meret, have also expressed strong interest in the Serbian international. Given Vanja's growing stature and experience in Serie A, Napoli view him as a natural fit, who could seamlessly adapt to their system.

Other clubs rumored to be monitoring the situation include AC Milan and Premier League sides like Nottingham Forest, who are reportedly considering a long-term goalkeeping solution. However, the emotional and professional pull of returning to Old Trafford could give Manchester United an edge if negotiations progress.
