Australian top-order batter Marnus Lanuschagne is all set to feature in the County Championship, marking his return for Glamorgan for fifth successive season. The confirmation came earlier in the week, by the country cricket board. Furthermore, it is to be noted that Marnus will only feature in two fixtures from Glamorgan, from the second half of May.
The decision from Labuschagne comes as Australia prepares for the upcoming World Test Championship 2023-25 Final, set to take place in June. The Pat Cummins-led side will take on South Africa in the summit clash at the Lord’s in London.
Marnus Labuschagne to play two matches for Glamorgan in County Championship
It is to be noted that Labuchagne will feature in two matches for the county club. Seeing the Aussie bater return for the English County, Glamorgan's Director of Cricket Mark Wallace said, "It's great to have Marnus returning to the club again." "He's very much part of the furniture here and we're looking forward to welcoming back to Wales for a couple of games,” he added.
The Glamorgan Director of Cricket also clarified that Marnus will be available for a short period, stating, "Although it's only for a short period, it will allow Colin to have a break and recharge before the Blast."
It is to be noted that Labuschagne will hope to prepare well for the upcoming assignment, seeing that his Test average has dipped to 46.76 after hovering in the high 50s not too long ago. Moreover, the top-order batter hasn’t hit a Test hundred in nearly two years.
