After registering a 3-0 win over West Indies in the Test series, the action will now shift to the T20I leg, where they will play at least five matches, starting July 20. Just hours ahead of the series opener, which will be played at the Sabina Park in Kingston, Jamaica, Cricket Australia announced their playing XI.

While the side will see Mitch Owen make his T20I debut for the Aussie, Matt Short has been ruled out of the series, owning to an injury. As confirmed by CA, Short pulled up sore during training in Jamaica and was later diagnosed with minor side strain.

Jake Fraser-McGurk earns call-up after Matt Short’s injury

With Short returning to the country following the injury, he has been replaced by Jake Fraser-McGurk, who replaced Spencer Johnson in the side earlier. It is to be noted that Johnson withdrew from the T20I series after encountering back soreness following IPL 2025. The Aussie opener, Fraser-McGurk will now open the innings with Mitchell Owen, who earned a T20I call-up.

It is to be noted that Owen earns his call-up after a batting brilliance in Big Bash League 2024-25. Moreover, McGurk with an opportunity at hand, will hope to reignite his international career, where he has so far amassed 113 runs in seven T20I matches at a strike rate of 143.03.
