After Delhi Capitals captain Meg Lanning and Shafali Verma shared an opening stand of 83 runs in double-quick time, the WPL side were set for a total excess of 200 runs until Gujarat Giants pacer Meghna Singh halted their innings. She took wickets of Shafali Verma to break the key partnership before scalping Jemimah Rodrigues and Annabel Sutherland in quick succession, to ensure that Delhi Capitals could only reach 177/5 in their allotted overs.
Notably, Meghna Singh conceded just 35 runs in her four-over spell while taking those three important wickets for Gujarat Giants in a key encounter, which could end up deciding their fate as far as the race to the top three in the WPL 2025 season is concerned. At the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow, the effort of Meghna Singh has given her team a chance to chase down a par total against Delhi Capitals.
Despite her heroics with the ball, Meghna Singh couldn’t stop Meg Lanning from getting into the 90s before her Gujarat Giants teammate Deandra Dottin castled her. The Australian great scored 92 runs in 57 balls with a whopping 15 fours and one maximum, allowing the rest of the Delhi Capitals batting lineup to bat alongside her till the last over, when her wicket fell on the second last ball.
