Middlesbrough who finished 10th in the Championship this season have decided to appoint Rob Edwards as their new manager for next season. This decision was made after the sacking of Michael Carrick in the early period of June. Edwards will be the 8th new manager since their relegation from the Premier League in 2017.

The 42-year-old coach was signed on a three-year contract after Middlesbrough were deeply interested in Edwards after his interview to take this position. He says that “It’s something that’s not lost on me, how big this is, how important this is and what it means to people, there is an amazing fanbase here”, in an interview with the club media. Him and his coaching staff are deeply excited to start their journey with Middlesbrough.

A new chapter awaits for Middlesbrough

Edwards has previously worked with Kieran Scott ,who is the head of football for Middlesbrough at Wolverhampton Wanderers. He was on the list of Steve Gibson who is the owner of Middlesbrough before he appointed Michael Carrick as the Head Coach in the year 2022. Although there were more candidates interested in the job like Steve Cooper who was the former manager of Nottingham forest, Boro decided that Edwards would be the right man to take the team forward.

Edwards is a former Wales defender who led the team Forest Green Rovers to promotion from the league 2. He led Luton Town into the top tier for the first time after 31 years of wait but he failed to avoid immediate relegation and struggled to bounce back after the team were pushed back to the second tier, after which Luton Town and Rob Edwards mutually decided to part ways

The former Wales International has a big responsibility to lead his new team to earn promotion in the next season and to boost the morale and energy of the team which will help them to deliver memorable performances next season which will make the fans of the club happy and full of joy.
