Memphis Tigers guard Mikey Williams pleaded guilty to a lesser charge in the gun case. Wiliams pleaded guilty "to a single count of making criminal threats" in connection to a shooting outside his San Diego home in March. According to his attorney, Randy Grossman, several gunshots were fired at a vehicle outside his home. Williams was arrested in April and has been away from the team ever since the legal proceedings have been in process.

After completing the requirements by the court, his charges will be reduced to a misdemeanor conviction. But, if he fails to meet the requirements, he could see 13 years of imprisonment for all his criminal charges as well as the possession of fire-arm. Before the season, Memphis said Williams would not be allowed to play and participate in the team activities.

However, following his court hearing on Thursday, the Tigers’ star is expected to return to the basketball court soon. He expressed excitement on the court’s decision and said, "I feel good, brother. You know, all glory to God. I'm just happy that I made it out of this situation. But I'm just excited to get back to the court."

As per ABC 10 News San Diego, Wiliams can get the charges reduced if he doesn’t break any laws, takes a gun safety course, and finishes 80 hours of community service before his sentence in 2024 after his Thursday court hearing. Not only this, but the 19-year-old won’t also be allowed to possess fire arms with the inclusion of a 10-year gun restriction.
