With the conclusion of the 17th edition of the   Indian Premier League (IPL), the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) walked away with the title triumph and a prize money worth INR 20 Crore. Apart from the prize money, even the players who featured in the tournament earned their respective salaries that they were roped in for in the 2024 edition of IPL.

After the tournament, Rinku Singh was asked about his IPL 2024 salary and how he feels to get that INR 55 Lakh in hand. However, his fiery response came when he was compared to the salary of Mitchell Starc, the Australian veteran who was roped in for an amount worth INR 24.75 Crore at the auction.

“ E ven 50-55 Lakhs is a lot. When I started, I had not even thought that I would earn so much. At that time, I was a kid and if I got even 10-15 rupees, I thought I would get it somehow. Now I am getting 55 Lakh rupees, so this is a lot, I should be happy with whatever God gives me,” Singh said in an interview with Dainik Jagran. “This is my thinking, I don’t think at all that I should have got this much money or that much. I am very happy even with 55 Lakh rupees. When I didn’t have this, I realized the value of money,” he added.

“If I tell you the truth today, then all this is an illusion. You did not bring anything with you, nor will you take anything with you. You never know when time will change. I would like to say that you have to go back the same way you came. Stay grounded, what else,” the Indian batter concluded.

It is to be noted that Rinku Singh’s consistent performances in the IPL over the past years have earned him a BCCI Central Contract. The youngster is also included in India’s squad for the T20 World Cup 2024, although as a reserve player, set to be played in the USA and the West Indies from June 1.
