Team India has been dealt with a major blow as experienced pacer Mohammed Shami’s stiff shoulder is most likely to keep him away from the two-match Test series against Bangladesh, starting next Wednesday in Chattogram. The injury had earlier ruled him out of the ongoing ODI series, and fresh development in the matter will surely add more woes to the Team India.

As reported by Cricbuzz, the NCA staff will draw a roadmap of veteran bowler’s recovery and rehab plans. Notably, Shami last played for India in the T20 World Cup 2022, in Australia. He was not part of the 15-men squad which was announced first for the ICC tournament but Jasprit Bumrah’s departure from the playing XI due to injury brought Shami in the scheme of things. Most recently, speedster Umran Malik has replaced Mohammed Shami in the ongoing three-match ODI series.

Reports have confirmed that BCCI is not planning to announce any additional name as a replacement for the veteran pacer, considering more than 30 players are in Bangladesh, including those part of India A squad. The likes of Siraj, Shardul Thakur, Umran Malik, Umesh Yadav, Mohammed Siraj and Shardul Thakur are part of the squad.

Speaking of injuries, Team India is already dealing with multiple injuries as three of its prominent players – Kuldeep Sen, Deepak Chahar and skipper Rohit Sharma – are down and out of the game in Chattogram. Notably, Kuldeep complained of a stiff back after his debut in Dhaka last Sunday, whereas Rohit and Deepak got injured during the second ODI on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, skipper Rohit Sharma has landed in Mumbai for scans following the thumb injury he sustained during the second ODI and a decision on his participating in the Test series will be taken in the next 24 hours. KL Rahul is likely to lead the squad in the final one-day international which is scheduled to take place on December 10, at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium, in Chattogram.
