Indian F2 racer Jehan Daruvala finished second in the sprint race at the Monaco Grand Prix 2023 on May 27, Saturday. The 24-year-old racer missed the first spot by six seconds and had to settle for the second spot in the race in Monte Carlo that started on May 25, Thursday. Monaco Grand Prix is a race at Circuit de Monaco which is the public roads converted into racetracks. Daruvala has had an average 2023 season as he is ninth in the standings with 32 points.
The Japanese racer Ayumu Iwasa grabbed the first spot in the F2 race. The reverse grid pole-sitter Isack Hadjar started off the race well to keep his nose ahead of DAMS’ Iwasa and MP Motorsport’s Daruvala, and Jak Crawford of Hitech GP slotting in the fourth spot.
However, after the sixth lap, Hajdar dropped the first spot, which was taken over by Iwasa, and with it, he ended the race in the first spot. Though Daruvala kept Iwasa under pressure for most of the race, later a safety car gave the Japanese racer the opportunity to break away from the rest of the field. This marks the third win of the season for Iwasa.
