The 2020 IPL champions retained their captain Rohit Sharma for Rs. 16 crores, Jasprit Bumrah for Rs. 12 crores, Suryakumar Yadav for Rs. 8 crores, and Kieron Pollard for Rs. 6 crores.
Mumbai Indians have been the most successful franchise in the 14-year run of the Indian Premier League so far. They have won the titles 5 times in IPL 2013, IPL 2015, IPL 2017, IPL 2019, and IPL 2020. They also were the runners-up in the 2010 season. Similarly, the franchise has also made the playoffs 9 times out of 14.
The IPL 2021 didn’t turn out to be a great season for the team. The defending champions failed to qualify for the playoffs as they won seven games and lost seven games only to finish 5th spot in the points table. They lost the playoffs’ spot as they had an inferior Net-Run Rate to the eventual finalist Kolkata Knight Riders.
