Pakistan skipper Babar Azam has been in sublime form for the past couple of years and is possibly one of the best all-format players amongst the current crop of batters. The 27-year-old recently added another feather to his cap by becoming the fastest captain to score 1,000 runs in the 50-over format, beating India's Virat Kohli.

After scoring a remarkable century in the first ODI against West Indies, Babar shattered quite a few records. In his recent conversation with India Today, Babar Azam spoke at length about his desire to win two world cups which are scheduled in the next one-and-a-half years.

Notably, Australia is set to host the T20 World Cup later in the year, and the ODI World Cup will happen the next year in India. In a recent interaction, Babar Azam said that he wants to challenge himself as the captain and lead the team to lift the prestigious titles.

"My ambition is to win the two World Cups for Pakistan in the next one-and-a-half years and if that happens I will feel that my runs are worth gold," Babar Azam said. He also recalled his schoolboy dream by stating that he always wanted to be the best batter and win titles for his country.

"When I started playing cricket as a schoolboy I always wanted to play international cricket for Pakistan, become the world’s top batsman in such a manner that it helps my team to win all the titles," said Babar Azam.

The Pakistan skipper also confessed that he wants to improve his finishing skills and inspire others in his team to play till the end.

“If I am scoring runs then other batters will follow and get inspired, but there is always room for improvement so I want to improve my finishing and that is important as captain,” said the 27-year-old," he added.

Babar Azam has been in prime form lately as he has scored three tons in his last six ODI matches. In 2022, he has scored 457 runs at an average close to 100.
