Ruben Amorim, the Manchester United manager, spoke about how his job is “so hard” after his team lost to Tottenham 0-1 in London in the Premier League last night. Being ravaged by a massive fitness crisis ahead of the game, Manchester United had as many as eight teenagers on the bench, none of whom had made their Premier League debut, and it meant that the manager could only make one change in the lineup right throughout the contest.

During an open game, Tottenham had the upper hand for the majority of the time, but Manchester United did create a few chances, to get on the scoresheet with Alejandro Garancho missing a sitter after they were a goal down. James Maddison had provided the decisive 1-0 lead on his return to action, finishing from close range after Andre Onana saved a shot in his path, which meant that Tottenham won their first Premier League home game under Ange Postecoglou in quite some time.

My job is so hard but I am here to continue my job to the next week with my beliefs: Ruben Amorim

After a disappointing end to the match, Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim rued his luck, and remarked to Sky Sports, “I have a lot of problems. My job is so hard but I am here to continue my job to the next week with my beliefs and I will try to win again.” Notably, this was the eighth defeat in the last 12 Premier League matches for Manchester United, which is why they have slumped deep into the bottom half of the table.

Moreover, during an interview with BBC Sport, Ruben Amorim spoke about how he is trying to get Manchester United out of their current slumber. He said, “I am trying to be careful with them. I felt the team was pushing for the goal and I felt I don't want to change. But they will play. I am here to help my players. I understand my situation, my job, I am confident on my work and I just want to win games. The place in the table is my worry, I am not worried about me.”

In the next Premier League clash, Manchester United are slated to take on a resurgent Everton under David Moyes at the Goodison Park.
