Star Indian athlete and India’s ‘Golden Boy’, Neeraj Chopra recently launched a world-class javelin throw event in India. The 27-year-old double Olympic medallist in a wake to give something back to his country, has launched the ‘NC Classic’ or the ‘Neeraj Chopra Classic’, which is set to be first of its kind in India. The Indian athlete wants to bring the world-class competition to India, where he has extended an invitation to top-class javelin throwers around the world.
The event, which is set to be held in May this year, will take place at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium in Bengaluru after being earlier reported to be held in Panchkula. Scheduled for May 24, 2025, Panchkula failed to get the status due to logistical reasons and thus the event was moved to Karnataka, the venue which has been granted category A status by World Athletics.

With the event close to a month away, it is set to stage some world class names like Anderson Peters (two-time world champion and Olympic bronze medallist), Thomas Rohler (former Olympic champions), Yulius Yego (Olympic medallist and former world champions), Curtis Thompson and several others. Moreover, the Indian javelin thrower has also extended an invitation to Paris Olympics gold medallist and world record holder Arshad Nadeem of Pakistan.
The same was confirmed by the top athlete as he told the reporters, “Yes, I have spoken to Arshad Nadeem. He said he’ll discuss it with his coach and confirm. But he hasn’t confirmed yet.” Apart from Neeraj Chopra, the stage will also see some top three to four Indian javelin throwers participate, including Rohit Yadav.
