Dwight Howard, a former NBA star is facing a lawsuit from his neighbor in Georgia over a cow-related incident. Teresa Nickerson, who lives near Howard’s farm claimed that she was driving on a public road back on March 10, 2020, when she collided with one of Howard’s cows that had escaped from his property.
Nickerson alleges that Howard was negligent in failing to keep his livestock contained to his farm and off the public highways of the state. She says that she suffered serious injuries and incurred medical expenses of $2,418 as a result of the crash and is seeking damages from Howard for past and future pain and suffering as well as other actual damages.

“Livestock belonging to Dwight David Howard, II has repeatedly escaped the enclosures on his Oglethorpe County farm,” the neighbor claimed. “Despite knowing livestock such as cattle will stray if not properly fenced, watered and fed, Dwight David Howard, II has repeatedly allowed his livestock to stray from the Oglethorpe County farm, including on March 10, 2020,” the suit read.
Howard, who bought the 700-acre farm in 2017 and owns a separate compound nearby, denies that he personally owns the farm. He argues that the farm was purchased through an LLC named 2989 Holdings and that the case should be brought against the company and not him individually. The former NBA star also claims that he did not have the time nor the acumen to raise and keep livestock on a farm and that he planned to retire on the property, which is home to many animals, including cows.

The lawsuit is not the only legal trouble that Howard is facing as earlier this month, he was also sued by a man who accuses him of assaulting him after they allegedly met on Instagram. Howard has not commented publicly on either of the lawsuits.
