The Indian cricket team won their fifth consecutive match in the ongoing ICC ODI World Cup 2023 as they defeated New Zealand by four wickets on Sunday in Dharamshala. While Mohammed Shami brought back India in the first inning with his five-wicket haul, Virat Kohli scored 95 runs to secure the top spot for the Men in Blue in the World Cup points table.
Despite Kohli's magnificent chase that helped India win the game, many cricket fans criticised the 34-year-old batter and called him "Selfish" for Suryakumar Yadav's runout due to a misunderstanding between the two batters and denying a single to all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja during the match.
Kohli denied an easy double to Jadeja when he was batting at 75. On the first ball of the 43rd over, which was being bowled by Mitchell Santner, Jadeja played the ball towards the third man and ran quickly to take a double, however, Kohli seemingly denied the all-rounder the chance to take back the strike.
