In a significant development, New Zealand pace spearhead Trent Boult has decided to turn back on New Zealand's central contract citing the need to spend some time off with his wife and kids. Reports have claimed that New Zealand cricket has accepted the left-arm fast bowler's decision after several rounds of discussion.

Trent Boult, who is a World Test championship winner and multiple World Cup finalist has admitted that his decision might diming his chances of representing Blackcaps at international stage once again, but he is happy that he is prioritizing his family and kids over his cricket commitments. Boult's decision might put curtains on his international career as New Zealand Chief Executive White has said that priority for selection will be given to the contracted players.

"We respect Trent Boult's position. He has been completely honest and up-front with us and his reasoning. While we all are sad to be losing him as a fully-contracted player, we wish him and thank him for his sincere services," said White.

He further mentioned that Trent Boult made a massive contribution to the BLACKCAPS and over the period of time emerged as one of the best multi-format cricketers in the world. "We are very proud of what he has achieved," added White.

The Chief Executive also informed that Boult is aware of the fact that board will give priority to the contracted players, central or domestic and he respects our stand. Although, Boult has stated that he is moving away from national commitments to spend some time with his family members, reports are indicating that he might make his appearance in one of the upcoming T20 leagues in either UAE or South Africa, but New Zealand Chief Executive reportedly said that the pacer was likely to be selected for the T20 World Cup in Australia.

In a released statement from NZC, Boult was quoted saying that he has big desire to represent his country and feels that he has the right skills to deliver at the international stage. "As a fast bowler I know I have a limited career span, and I feel the time is right to move into this next phase," said Boult.

In his illustrious career, Boult has made 215 appearances across all formats after debuting against Australia in the famous 2011 Test victory in Hobart. Boult is among the list of bowlers who have taken 300 Test wickets for New Zealand, having taken 317 scalps at 27.49 with 10 five-wicket haul and one ten-for. He also has 169 ODI wickets and 62 in T20Is. He is currently the No.1 ranked ODI bowler in the world and is ranked 11th on the Test rankings.
