Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe has made his return to work after successfully fighting against pneumonia at the hospital, where he was admitted for the better part of last two weeks. The 47-year-old was taken to the hospital earlier this month after being unwell for a few days before he was diagnosed with pneumonia, and following his treatment, he has come back to fulfilling his managerial duties at the training ground of Newcastle United.
Notably, in the absence of Eddie Howe, the assistant manager Jason Tindall and the coaching staff member Graeme Jones took charge of Newcastle United. Eddie Howe was admitted to the hospital on April 11, just before they were set to take on Manchester United in a Premier League clash at the St. James’ Park, which they ended up winning 4-1 without him being at the touchline.
After that, Newcastle United defeated Crystal Palace 5-0 in the Premier League clash at home, the second match Eddie Howe wasn’t in-charge of the team, but they ended up losing the third match in his absence, losing 4-1 to Aston Villa at the Villa Park. Ahead of their next home match in the Premier League at the St. James’ Park against Ipswich Town on Saturday, April 26, they are in fifth place in the standings, fighting for a UEFA Champions League (UCL) spot.
We thank supporters for their warm wishes: Newcastle United on Eddie Howe's successful fight against pneumonia
The official statement from the North East England club on the matter read, “Newcastle United are delighted to confirm that Eddie Howe has returned to his duties at the club’s Training Centre. Eddie had recently been hospitalised with pneumonia and has now returned to work after a period of recovery. We thank supporters for their warm wishes”.
With just five matches in the Premier League 2024-25 season still remaining, Newcastle United have a great chance to make the UCL spots once again in recent years.
