Days after the conclusion of the five-match Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2024-25 down under, Australia’s top-order batter Sam Konstas has taken a new jibe at the viral shoulder barge incident, invloving former Indian skipper and batting stalwart Virat Kohli. It is to be noted that the incident was one of the controversial incidents in the series, which even led to Kohli being fined 20 per cent of his match fee, along with being handed a demerit point.
The incident unfolded after the completion of the tenth over of the Australian innings in the fourth BGT Test in Melbourne. During the change over, Virat Kohli seemingly changed the trajectory towards Konstas before colliding with him as he was going to take a position in the slip cordons. However, the young Aussie continued to mock the incident during the entire Test, video of which also went viral in no time.
I have no regrets: Sam Konstas’s new take on shoulder-bump incident
Earlier after the end of day’s play in Melbourne, when Konstas was asked of it, he replied, “I think emotions got to both of us. I didn't realize. I was just doing my gloves when I got the little shoulder charge, but it happens in cricket.” But now, the 19-year-old has come up with a rather bold reply, stating that he had no regrets on it. Speaking in an interview with 7NEWS, Konstas said, "No, I have no regrets. I like to live by that and it was so special. I've watched it so many times, I'm not going to lie."
Notably, the incident took so much hype that even the opinions were divided among the Indian as well as Australian fans. Some of the media houses even mocked at the star Indian batter, portraying him as a clown in the Australian newspapers. Moreover, several former Aussie cricketers also demanded strict action against the veteran Indian batter, including the likes of Ricky Ponting, Brad Haddin and others.
