Chennai Super Kings skipper MS Dhoni spoke on his retirement from the IPL after a win against Kolkata Knight Riders in match number 57 of IPL 2025 at Eden Gardens on Wednesday, May 7. The 43-year-old said that the he hasn’t decided anything as of now and will wait for seven to eight months after the end of the ongoing season. Dhoni said that he wants to see whether his body is fit to play the next season.

“That's the love and affection I have got throughout, not to forget, I'm 43 and I have played for a long time. They don't know when it will be my last year, it is a fact I play only 2 months a year. This IPL gets over, then I have to work for the next 6-8 months to see if my body is able to take this kind of pressure. (on his retirement plans) Nothing to decide as of now, but the love and affection I get everywhere is excellent,” Dhoni said at the post-match presentation.

We want answers for the next year: MS Dhoni on CSK’s poor outing

CSK finally got a win after consecutive losses in the ongoing IPL 2025 after defeating KKR by two wickets at Eden Gardens. The five-time champions had a poor outing in the ongoing season and are placed at the 10th spot in the points table with just three wins and nine losses so far. However, they looked convincing in the last game against KKR with Dewald Brevis scoring a match-winning half-century. After the match, MS Dhoni reflected on CSK’s poot outing this season.

“We want answers for the next year, which batter can slot in where and which bowler can bowl where according to the conditions. Hardly anyone was scoring runs, yes you will get out sometimes but you back yourself and play the shots you feel you can do,” Dhoni said after the match.
