But ahead of the clash between Australia and England, the five-time champions have been handed a massive blow. As a report published by Cricket.com.au on Wednesday, November 1, Glenn Maxwell fell down from the back of a golf cart, resulting in a concussion and will miss the match against England.

However, the Australian authorities informed that no one else suffered any injuries except Maxwell, who suffered some concussion and a few facial bruising. “Cricket Australia’s concussion protocols will see the allrounder miss the clash with their Ashes rivals at the Narendra Modi Stadium. The allrounder has not been replaced in the squad and Australia are hopeful he will only miss one game,” CA’s statement read.

It is to be noted that this hi the second concussion Maxwell has suffered in just 12 months. He earlier broke his leg while at a birthday party in Melbourne in November last year.

Notably, the Australia head coach, Andrew McDonald also issued a statement on Maxwell’s concussion adding that no replacement will be announced. “In transporting him back from the clubhouse to the team bus, Glenn Maxwell came off the back of a cart and has suffered a small concussion, so he will go into concussion protocols for the next period of time and will unfortunately miss the England game.”

“There’ll be no replacement (in the squad) as such, he’ll go into six to eight days concussion protocol,” McDonald further added.
