Five-time champions Australia are taking on the Netherlands at the ongoing ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023. The two teams have a short-lived rivalry at the World Cups as the Aussies have come out on top in both their games against the Dutch. However, while the Pat Cummins-led side are coming into this game after two consecutive games, the Netherlands registered an upset as they won by 38 runs against South Africa.

While the Pat Cummins-led side won the toss and opted to bat first, as the two teams took the field for their respective national anthems, they observed a moment’s silence as a tribute to the former India captain and left-arm spinner Bishan Singh Bedi. It is to be noted that the legendary spinner passed away at the age of 77 on Monday, October 23.

Additionally, the Australia cricket team was seen sporting black armbands in the match against Netherlands as a tribute to former Aussie cricketer, Fawad Ahmed’s son’s demise. Talking to X, the Cricket Australia posted, “The Australian squad are wearing black armbands in respect of Fawad Ahmed and his family following their loss this week #CWC23.”
