In a massive development coming in from the Indian Premier League, it has now been confirmed that the remaining fixtures of the suspended Indian Premier League (IPL) will happen in the United Arab Emirates. The decision has been formally taken by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) at its virtual Special General Meeting (SGM) on Saturday. Notably, the IPL 2021 was suspended midway in May after multiple COVID-19 cases emerged inside bio-secure bubbles in India.
It is further being reported that the BCCI has taken the call to move the IPL out of India based on bad weather in India around September-October, which is the window that is likely to be finalised to conduct the remaining 31 matches.
BIG UPDATE ON T20 WC IN INDIA
The BCCI also has decided to seek more time from the International Cricket Council (ICC) to stage the T20 World Cup in India. The ICC has slated its meeting on June 1 to decide on the matter, but the world body may have to defer the decision on moving the October 18-November 15 tournament out of India in view of the BCCI's request. The BCCI wants to explore all possibilities to host the WC in India.

Issue regarding payments to domestic players not discussed
From what is being learned, the issue regarding payments to domestic players was not discussed in the SGM meeting. While one of the associations purportedly even raised this issue for discussion but was turned down by BCCI President Sourav Ganguly and Vice-President Rajeev Shukla, clarifying that it was not part of the agenda. This comes as a big disappointment for domestic cricketers who were supposed to be compensated after several tournaments but are still waiting for their remuneration which was promised to them.
