Indian weightlifter Mirabai Chanu gave a billion Indians reasons to be happy and cheerful when she clinched the silver medal in the 49 kg category at the ongoing Tokyo Olympics. She opened India's medal tally and when asked how she would celebrate her win, all she said was that she would finally have some pizzas. The national hero's wish was heard by Dominos India.
The giant pizza chain took to social media on Saturday to announce that they would be offering the Manipur athlete free pizza for the rest of her life. They made the announcement on social media.
"Congratulations on bringing the medal home! You brought the dreams of a billion+ Indians to life and we couldn’t be happier to treat you to FREE Domino’s pizza for life. Congratulations again!!," they posted.
"What is common between India's Olympic medal Second place medal and everytime you say you'll just have one of pizza ? "It's just the first of manyyyyy," the added in another tweet.
And keeping their promise, they provided not only Chanu with pizzas but also her entire family in Manipur. They even shared the pictures on social media. Mira has also responded to the gesture by attending to her craving and thanking the company.
“Thank you @dominos_india for sending some great tasting pizzas & celebrating with us. My family and I appreciate the gesture from Domino’s Pizzas. I look forward to our friendship," she wrote along with her pictures.

Earlier, the chief minister of Manipur N Biren Singh had announced a cash reward of INR 1 crore for the weightlifter. In addition, she is also set to be appointed as the Additional Superintendent of Police (Sports) Sports by the state government.
There should be maximum participation in sports from girls: Chanu
The star athlete acknowledged that her win will inspire others to take up the sport and wished for maximum participation from the girls.
"My win will change things for sure as in weightlifting not many girls participate. After this, I want every girl to take weightlifting as a sport. In further tournaments, I want there should be maximum participation from the girls. I feel now more girls will take up the sport of weightlifting," she said after the win in a virtual press conference.
