On April 11, 2024, Mumbai Indians (MI) bagged a one-sided win against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 game played at the iconic Wankhede Stadium. Jasprit Bumrah shone with the ball and played a vital role in Mumbai’s victory. The pacer bagged 5/21 figures in his four-over spell and became the player of the match (POTM). Bowling first after winning the toss, the five-time champions contained Bengaluru on 196/8 in 20 overs on Mumbai’s batting-friendly turf.

Bumrah kicked off his onslaught in the third over of the game, getting the better of Virat Kohli. The RCB legend departed after scoring only three off nine. After Kohli, Will Jacks became the victim of Akash Madhwal in the next over. In the crunch situation, captain Faf du Plessis and Rajat Patidar stepped up and stitched an 82-run stand off just 47 balls. Patidar fell to Gerald Coetzee after scoring 50 off 26. Glenn Maxwell, who came to replace Patidar, got trapped by Shreyas Gopal and departed on a four-ball duck.

Bumrah’s next hunts were du Plessis and Mahipal Lomror on consecutive deliveries in the 17th over of the match. Saurav Chauhan and Vyshak Vijay Kumar failed to handle the pacer in the 19th over, which handed the speedster the second five-wicket haul in the distinguished league.
