On March 20 2003, Sourav Ganguly led India into the finals of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2003, smashing an outstanding century against Kenya in the 2nd semi-final on March 20. While batting first, Ganguly scored an unbeaten 111 runs off 114 balls, including 5 sixes and 5 fours. Thanks to his hundred, India put up a total of 270 in 50 overs and eventually won the match by 91 runs. Dada was awarded the Player of the Match award for his amazing century.

After finishing second in the Super Sixes stage with four wins in five games, India faced third-ranked Kenya in the second semi-final of the 2023 Cricket World Cup. India captain Sourav Ganguly won the big toss in Durban and elected to bat first on a pitch that favors a bit more to bowlers. The legendary opening pair Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag gave a good start to the team. However, Peter Ongondo gets Sehwag on 33, and then Ganguly comes to bat with Sachin.

Sourav Ganguly and Sachin Tendulkar batted amazingly well in tough conditions. Sachin missed his century by 17 runs and got out to Steve Tikolo on 83 runs. However, Ganguly continued his attack and smashed an unbeaten 111 runs off 114 balls, including 5 sixes and 5 fours. In 50 overs, India managed to put up a total of 270 runs with the loss of 4 wickets. Thomas Odoyo, Peter Ongondo, and Tikolo got one wicket each.

While chasing 271, Kennedy Otieno and Ravi Shah come out to bat for Kenya. However, Ashish Nehra and Zaheer Khan did amazing work with the new ball, taking three early wickets of Ravi Shah, Peter Ongondo, and Thomas Odoyo. Captain Steve Tikolo put up a fight with his fifty, but Tendulkar got him on 56 runs, and eventually, Kenya got all out on 179 and lost the match by 91 runs. Zaheer Khan took 3 wickets while Ashish Nehra and Sachin Tendulkar got 2 each. Javagal Srinath and Yuvraj Singh also took 1-1 wickets.
