On May 18, 2016, Virat Kohli struck his fourth Indian Premier League (IPL) ton while representing Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) against Punjab Kings (PBKS) at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. The knock became more special for Kohli supporters as the legendary batter displayed his spunky side while playing with stitches on his hand. A couple of days ahead of the clash against Punjab, Kohli suffered a split webbing on his hand while fielding against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the iconic Eden Gardens. Following the injury, he went through stitches.

Fielding first after winning the toss, PBKS realised that they made a blunder by inviting the hosts to bat first as the then RCB captain Kohli showcased his relentless approach against bowlers. Taking PBKS bowling attack to the cleaners, the legendary batter smashed his fourth IPL ton in just 47 deliveries. Allying with Chris Gayle, he built an opening partnership of 147 runs in just 66 balls. He concluded his innings in the 14th over of the match after hitting 113 off 50. His sensational knock was studded with 20 boundaries (12 fours and eight maximums). Riding on his batting efforts, Bengaluru posted a massive score of 211/3 in 15 overs. The match was shortened due to rain in Bengaluru.

Yuzvendra Chahal makes Punjab batters dance to his tunes

Defending the target of 203 runs in 14 overs, Yuzvendra Chahal stepped up for RCB as he was too hot to handle for Punjab batters. The leg-spinner bowled his four overs and notched up 4/25 figures. In his sensational spell, he hunted the scalps of Wriddhiman Saha, Gurkeerat Singh Mann, Farhaan Behardien, and Kyle Abbott.

Chahal was supported by Sreenath Aravind and Shane Watson, who picked up two wickets apiece. Bengaluru restricted the visitors to 120/9 in their 14 overs and bagged a massive 82-run win (D/L method). Virat Kohli’s batting effort also made him the recipient of the Player of the Match.
