The FIFA World Cup 2022 is approaching and multiple predictions feature Lionel Messi's Argentina, Neymar Jr's Brazil and defending champions France among the favorites to win the World Cup in Qatar. Recently, University of Oxford has predicted the route to the men's FIFA World Cup and named Brazil to win the title for the record sixth time.

The prediction begins with the group stage as Netherlands, England, Argentina, France, Spain, Belgium, Brazil and Portugal are expected to claim the top spot in their respective groups followed by Ecuador, Iran, Mexico, Denmark, Germany, Croatia, Switzerland and Uruguay on the second spot.

In the knockout stages, all the group toppers are predicted to win their respective Round of 16 ties to qualify for the quarterfinals stage. However, Germany, Croatia, Uruguay, Denmark and Switzerland are among the teams to lose their Round of 16 matches. 

In the quarterfinals, Argentina have 56.5 per cent chance to beat Netherlands while Brazil hold 58.5 per cent chance to claim the victory against Spain. Similarly, France have 55.7 per cent chance over England while Cristiano Ronaldo-led Portugal are expected to lose the close battle against Belgium in the quarterfinal.

Based on the calculations by the University of Oxford, Brazil, Argentina, France and Belgium are the four teams to qualify for the FIFA World Cup 2022 semifinals. While Brazil are favourites against Argentina, Belgium boast a strong chance against the defending champions. These predictions lead to the FIFA World Cup 2022 finals featuring Brazil against Belgium.

Both, Brazil and Belgium possess brilliant squad as big names like Neymar Jr., Casemiro, Vinicius Jr., Thiago Silva among others will feature for the South American giants while Belgium will feature stars like Kevin De Bruyne, Eden Hazard, Thibaut Cortouis and more.  The five-time World Cup champions, Brazil hold a strong chance against Belgium in the finals as they have 61.3 per cent chance to win the FIFA World Cup 2022.
