Former Pakistan cricketer Rashid Latif claimed that the Pakistan team decided to postpone a paid fan meet-up after they suffered an embarrassing loss against the USA. The Men in Green clashed against T20 World Cup 2024 co-hosts on Friday, June 6 (IST) in their season opener. The 2009 T20 world champions who were aiming for a favourable and victorious start to their campaign suffered a humiliating defeat to the World Cup debutants.

Former Pakistan star Latif revealed that the team decided to postpone the meet up they had planned for the fans after their loss to the inexperienced USA. Notably, Latif had earlier revealed that Pakistan is holding paid ‘meet and greet events’ in the USA for the fans and have been charging $25 from them.

However, the former cricketer claimed that the team reportedly postponed their next meet-up which was scheduled to be held on June 7. Latif shared a few posters on his social media and questioned the team for hosting such events in middle of the World Cup. While the authenticity of the posters couldn’t be verified, Latif wrote, “Who is providing the tour schedule in advance to who? are these pre-arranged?, who is giving the go ahead for events during a World Cup?”

Notably, the Babar Azam-led side will clash against arch-rivals and near neighbours, India, in one of the highly anticipated fixtures of the tournament. The match is set to take place on Sunday, June 9, at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York.
