Indian javelin thrower  Annu Rani failed to reach the final of the women's javelin event at the Paris Olympics 2024. For the Indian javelin contingent, Rani became the second thrower after Kishore Jena to miss out on the final. While the defending Gold medalist Neeraj Chopra sealed qualification to the finale with his first throw on August 6. 

Annu Rani registered a throw of 55.81m on the first attempt and took the 10th spot. Rani needed to throw over the automatic mark of 62.00m or make the top 12 to reach the final. But the Indian failed as she racked up distances of 55.81m, 53.22m, and 53.55m in her three attempts, ensuring that she finished 15th out of 16 throwers in Group B.

Coming back to Neeraj Chopra, India's Golden Boy registered a throw of  89.34 metres in his very first attempt during the group B qualification round. Neeraj will aim to defend his Olympic title in the final of the men's javelin throw final on August 8, Thursday. 

Speaking about his final at the Paris Olympics 2024, Chopra said,  "Look, it definitely remains in my mind, but let me tell you the truth, when I was on the field, nothing like this was in my mind. The only thought in my mind was that whatever work I have come to do now."
