On Monday, July 29, Harmanpreet Singh, the captain of India, scored a late equaliser against Argentina in the 59th minute, to help his team earn a 1-1 draw in the men’s hockey Pool B match at the Paris Olympics 2024. The fans at the Stade Yves-du-Manoir witnessed a high quality hockey match from Argentina and India, which ended in a stalemate.

In the first quarter of their second Pool B match in men’s hockey at the Paris 2024, India started on a bright note against Argentina, keeping the majority of the possession. Abhishek came very close to scoring the first goal of the contest for India in the 11th minute when his reverse hit clattered into the crossbar.

The second quarter saw Argentina open the scoring through a lucky break in the 22nd minute. The hopeful ball from Lucas Martinez deflected into the open goal from PR Sreejesh’s stick, giving Argentina a 1-0 lead over India.

Argentina had a great chance to double their lead in the third quarter when the penalty stroke was awarded to them after a foul from Jarmanpreet Singh. But, to the surprise of everyone, Maico Casella couldn’t put the ball past PR Sreejesh in front of goal.

In the fourth quarter, India pushed Argentinian defence to their absolute limit to get the equalising goal. The captain Harmanpreet Singh came to the rescue for the Indian team, putting the ball in the back of the net off a penalty corner in the 59th minute, to level it up at 1-1, which ended up as the final scoreline.
