ODI World Cup 2023 winning captain, Pat Cummins headlined the IPL 2024 Auction after he became the most expensive player in the IPL history. The Aussie skipper, who missed the 2023 edition due to a family emergency, was released by the Kolkata Knight Riders ahead of the auction.
After going for a whopping sum of INR 20.50 Crore to Sunrisers Hyderabad, former India cricketer Aakash Chopra also made a bold statement in regard to this buy. Chopra took to X (formerly Twitter) to comment on Pat Cummins as he wrote, “Is SRH shopping for their captain??? #IPLAuction”.
However, he also clarified that with the price sum that he has been brought, he is likely to captain the side in the 2024 edition.
It is to be noted that Pat Cummins has had a brilliant 2023 year so far as he retained the Ashes and won the World Test Championships Final, beating India. He later went onto beat India in the ODI World Cup final and clinch the sixth ICC title.
Can’t wait to get started: Pat Cummins
“Pumped to be joining SRH for the upcoming IPL season. I have heard a lot about the orange army, I have played at Hyderabad a few times. I can’t wait to get started. Great to see another Aussie in Travis Head over there. I think we will have a lot of fun this season and hope for plenty of success,” the Aussie star said in a video post shared by SRH.
