Freshly contracted AC Monaco midfielder Paul Pogba has shared his viewpoints about which player out of Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi he prefers. A clip of Paul Pogba’s discussion on the matter with popular Twitch streamer iShowSpeed has been widely circulated on social media in which he is talking about the two legends of the game.
The video of that discussion has gone viral on social media platform X after it was posted late last night. In the video Paul Pogba said, “If I need goals. I prefer Cristiano Ronaldo but if I need assists and goals I will take (Lionel) Messi all day.” In many of his previous interviews also, Paul Pogba has been very critical of this comparison between Messi and Ronaldo. In a statement given by him to Iconl in 2019 he said that, “I am absolutely sick of players being compared to them.”

The rivalry to become the greatest of all time (GOAT) in football gained momentum between Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, when the latter joined Blancos in 2009, which are considered Barcelona's arch-rivals. From 2009 to 2018, Ronaldo and Messi faced each other in several big matches in club football, single-handedly winning some of them, which made them leading contenders for many awards, including the Ballon d'Or and player of the year, proving their rivalry and longevity.
According to many experts both have their unique abilities. Messi on one hand can take down the defensive set-ups well, Ronaldo on the other hand is considered as an exceptional finisher in front of the goal. Ronaldo has scored 938 career goals in 1281 matches in his career, comapred to Messi's 866 goals in 1109 appearances. In terms of playmaking, Lionel Messi has delivered 384 career assists while Ronaldo has registered 257 assists.
