The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) are reportedly contemplating about punishing the spinner Abrar Ahmed for ignoring instructions from their medical panel in rehabilitating from a suspected nerve-related problem. The PCB medical panel, after consulting Pakistan team doctor, physio, and trainer, had submitted the report to the board chairman about the carelessness from Abrar Ahmed during his rehabilitation process.

Abrar Ahmed had to miss the entire Test series at the turn of the year against Australia down under, wherein Pakistan were whitewashed by 3-0. The spinner, who had travelled with the Pakistan cricket team for the Test series in Australia, is now ruled out of the T20I series in New Zealand due to the suspected sciatica problem, which led to the team management sending him home.

As per the report from PTI, the Indian news agency, an official of the PCB was quoted as saying about the recent development, “Abrar has been sent home to the national cricket academy where his rehabilitation process is now monitored on a daily basis by the staff there and he is also staying now at the academy.”

Notably, Abrar Ahmed made a complaint about feeling pain in his lower side for the first time in India when the Pakistan cricket team were there to take part in the ODI World Cup 2023. The diagnosis revealed that he might have a sciatica problem, for which he was advised a full rehabilitation programme, which included some exercises on a daily basis among other instructions.

But, when Abrar Ahmed complained about side pain once again, they found out that he wasn’t following the rehabilitation process, which led to advice from Pakistan team management and doctor to him about doing what’s been told. The problem flared up the third time during a four-day warm-up game in Canberra before the Test series against Australia, they found out that he wasn’t doing what’s been told again and again.
