​​​​​​Hobart Hurricanes reached at the top of the points table after they defeated Brisbane Heat by five wickets in match number 36 of the 2024-25 Big Bash League at The Gabba Stadium in Brisbane. For Hurricanes, Caleb Jewell came up with a knock of 76(49) runs as they went on to register their seventh win of the season. On the other hand, the defending champions Heat suffered their fourth defeat of the season in nine matches. 

Batting first, Brisbane Heat lost their first wicket at the score of nine runs in 1.1 overs. After a couple of overs, Usman Khawaja also got out after a quickfire 23(9) runs. After that Marnus Labuschagne and Matt Renshaw put up a partnership of 69 runs for the third wicket. Renshaw got out after scoring 40(25) runs, hitting three fours and two sixes. After that, Labuschagne and Tom Aslop added 85 runs for the fifth wicket.

Hobart Hurricanes win high-scoring thriller on last ball 

Tom Aslop got out after scoring 39(27) hitting four boundaries, while Marnus Labuschagne top scored with 77(44) runs with eight fours and two sixes as Brisbane Heat posted a total of 201/6 in their 20 overs. For Hobart Hurricanes, skipper Nathan Ellis took three scalps while Marcus Bean and Mitchell Owen scalped a wicket each. Chasing the winning target, Hobart Hurricanes had a great start as Caleb Jewell and Mitchell Owen put up an opening partnership of 80 runs in 6.5 overs. 

Mitchell Owen got out after scoring 44(20) runs while Caleb Jewell top scored with 76(49) runs. Apart from that, Nikhil Chaudhary scored 39(27) runs, while Matthew Wade and Jake Doran gave finishing touches as Hobart Hurricanes sealed the deal on the last ball of the innings to register their seventh win of the season. For Hobart Hurricanes, Spencer Johnson took three wickets while Xavier Bartlett and Mitchell Swepson scalped a wicket each.
